Our Team

Led by Flat Creek Estate owner Eva Horton, we are transforming what has been described as the most beautiful 80 acres in all of Texas. Eva’s background in real estate and retail and her radiant personality have been the guiding influence of Flat Creek Estate’s transformation. With a focus on exceptional experiences and warm customer service, Eva’s leadership shines through each aspect of Flat Creek Estate.

Eva Horton

OWNER

Eva Horton is the owner of Flat Creek Winery, an 80-acre entertainment destination located just outside of Austin that features a tasting room, full-service bistro, outdoor pavillion and best-in-class wines developed straight from Flat Creek’s vineyard. Eva is a leading partner at Post Lake Capital Partners, managing investment sales, private investors and special asset servicing entities. She is Managing Director of Newmark, where her unique approach of working closely with clients throughout the development and entitlement process creates long-lasting relationships.

Early in her career, Eva’s skill in strategically developing relationships led her to be recruited early to manage a branch of a Lawyers Title subsidiary. Within two years she had directed the development of eight offices, a building that grossed more than $1 million dollars of revenue within its first year of operation. Since then, Eva has worked with a wide range of retail and office developers to produce profitable retail, office, hotel and special-use spaces.

Today, Eva is applying her knowledge of commercial real estate and retail to transform Flat Creek Estate into a premier destination for visitors from across Texas and beyond to enjoy world-class wines from fruits grown on-site in Flat Creek’s vineyard. Her expertise, warmth and exceptional customer service create memorable experiences for every visitor.

Under Eva’s leadership, Flat Creek Estate has emerged as one of the leading wineries in Texas. Condé Nast named Flat Creek one of the four best day trips from Austin, calling the winery “a super Texan winery known for its Super Texan,” the vineyard’s signature blend. Food & Wine included Flat Creek Estate on their list of the 50 Most Amazing Wine Experiences in America, and the winery has earned more than 400 accolades since its inception.

Eva was born and raised in Hugo, Oklahoma, but chose to attend the University of Texas in Austin, and later moved to Dallas to start her real estate career.   When Eva wasn’t working on real estate transactions, she followed her love for the Dallas Cowboys by becoming a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and is now a current member of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Alumni Association.

Olivier De Certaines

Winemaker

Olivier grew up in the French wine region of Beaujolais and has been around wine culture since an early age. His Grandfather owned a winery in a cru-Beaujolais, where Olivier first learned about wine. Always fascinated by nature and science, Olivier went on to obtain a degree in Biology and Biochemistry. While working in a renowned oenology laboratory in Burgundy, he decided to marry his passions for science and wine together. So, he returned to school for a technical degree in winemaking and viticulture in Burgundy. Following one harvest in Australia, he pursued his career in Texas where he worked for six years in two of the most notorious Hill Country wineries. He is now in charge of carrying on the legacy of winemaking excellence at Flat Creek.

Jean Hoefliger

Consulting Winemaker

Jean’s experience making wine around the world made him the perfect partner for Flat Creek Estate. Working with winemaker Bob Wonacott and the entire Flat Creek Estate winemaking team, Jean lends his expertise to farming practices, production procedures, and final blending. The goal of creating world-class wines from a world-class estate is what the team strives for on a daily basis.

Shawn Kristy

Executive Chef

Sometimes “accidents” lead to what’s truly meant to be. Such is the case with Flat Creek’s Chef Kristy. It started storming one night while he was backpacking in Hawaii – and Chef Kristy walked into the nearest restaurant. He quickly discovered the only person there was the cook. The two struck up a deep conversation, helping Chef Kristy to realize cooking offered the kind of lifestyle he wanted as well as an opportunity to showcase his creativity to others. After that, Chef Kristy worked his way from a server in a restaurant, up to chef – and now head chef here at Flat Creek. Each meal is the product of his ingenuity and talent, and everything he makes is worthy of high praise.
